Beautiful, voluminous maxi dress by Youth Guild. This black dress features a slide hook closure at the back waist. Additional slide hooks attach the straps to the back of the dress, allowing them to be worn crossed or straight. Crossing the straps make the bust area higher/tighter, wearing the straps open loosens it a bit and creates a beautiful exposed back. Union made, this dress has the ILGWU label that indicates it was made between 1963-1974. This piece has washing instructions but does not have a materials label. A stunning, sculptural black dress by Howard Wolf. What would be a simple black shift dress is topped with striking cape sleeves that drape over the shoulders. Hidden zipper back closure, fully lined. A small label beneath the brand label says “69,” this likely indicates the year this garment was made/sold.

Howard Wolf was a small womenswear label based out of Dallas, Texas, from 1947-1999. Owners and designers Howard and Lois Wolf were known for their dresses and sportswear, sold primarily through high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

A stunning, layered chiffon dress by Wayne Clark for Aline Marelle. Gorgeously draped bodice dips low in the front and back. Drop waist shape with additional chiffon cascading down from the waist. Chiffon has a print of little white swirl shapes, dramatic balloon sleeves are fully sheer. Canadian designer Wayne Clark first apprenticed in London with British designer Hardy Amies until returning to Canada in 1977. He designed for Aline Marelle until starting his own label in 1989.

The skirt lining of this dress has very little give and no fastenings or openings, so the smallest point (waist measurement) needs to fit over the hips in order for this to be put on. This dress does not have a materials label, but based on texture and appearance I believe the chiffon is silk, with a synthetic lining (polyester or acetate). There is one small circular hole in the chiffon, the edges appear melted indicating this was likely a burn from a cigarette or a joint. The draping mostly obscures this flaw, see last product image for details.

A vibrantly printed mini dress in a classic, mid century bombshell silhouette. This dress features a fitted shape with a pointed bust that was extremely popular in the 1940's and 50's. This style would have been designed to be worn over a bullet bra. Hidden back zipper closure. This dress has a label, but anything that was once on it has faded away. Based on texture and appearance, fabric is most likely cotton.

This dress has one very small area of staining at chest, as shown in last product image. The stain was thoroughly treated and faded as much as possible, it will probably not come out more with further treatment. Due to the busyness of the print, it isn't very noticeable when worn.
